The fourth time at Ledbury.  Read the reports of the past events in the e-Zine or forum (search for Ledbury Bunkhouse Weekend) people usually rebook so we must be doing something right. This event is planned for the weekend Friday 27th & Saturday 28th of June and it has always had good weather.   This place is so good I have taken my wife there a few times extra to club events.

Woodside Lodges is a country park in Hereford close to the border of Wales so has good cider and riding roads, but be aware of the speed cameras.  It is at the foot of the Malvern Hills in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with easy access to the M5/M50, 2 miles from Ledbury, an ancient town mentioned in the Doomsday Book famous for its cobbled streets, Chocolate shop, Black and White buildings, and as a thriving market centre.  Ledbury is equidistant from Gloucester, Hereford, and Worcester so well located for a ride out.  There are about 30 cider makers in Herefordshire so  OK for a pint as well.

Comments from 2013

Woof...... thanks to everyone who came for giving me such a warm welcome and looking after me Woof Scooby

Great weekend!  Thanks All Pirate

What a wonderful weekend! Good company, good roads, good food, good beer, lovely camp site and accommodation, and a Scooby to play with - what's not to like  Bryn

I plan on going down on Friday morning which should give me a chance to check us in, but since we have been before there should be no surprises.  The local pubs are a mile away but expect most people will have to work and so will join me for a beer at the site later.  On Saturday we can find a destination to ride to as a group, same as last year, or do your own thing, then BBQ, cook in the kitchen (or go to a pub if it rains) in the evening.  On Sunday I plan a gentle ride home to Manchester stopping at some museum for coffee and a break, feel free to join me.  You will be able to stay longer if you want to enjoy the area by arranging it with the camp site.

The bunkhouse is a single unit with 5 rooms inside it, each with a wardrobe, dining and cooking area. The cooking area has a kettle, toaster, microwave, 2 ring table top cooker, fridge, basic cooking equipment, utensils and crockery. You need a pound coin to work the power. These rooms are a little above Basic, eg TV in each room, proper beds, tables, chairs and sofas.  The Pod is a wooden box with just a heater and light in it.  No cooking facility and you need to bring your own sleeping mat and bag.

We have booked all 5 rooms with 2 beds in each but camp beds are available to increase the occupancy of each room if we need to.  - Bedding is included in the price. The Pod is a bare wooden box for 2 people C NO bedding.

Organised by George this is likely to be a quiet weekend with gentle riding (Martin led a great ride in 2013) and a little cider drinking since we will be in Herefordshire.

Plan

Arrive Friday arrange your own food, last year we did a chip shop run.

Ride out on Saturday and then a group evening meal, we had a BBQ the last 3 years.

Sunday end with a gentle ride home

Cost is 40 per person for the weekend in the bunkhouse, 30pp in the pod. Spaces will be limited so pre-booking is essential, 'cos people who have been before usually re-book.  The last 3 visits we have been able to accommodate couples in twin bedded rooms if they booked early.  The rooms can sleep up to 4, so be prepared to share. I will try to organise 2 people per room but how many sleep in each, will depend, on actual numbers booking.    Or you can always camp, 15 pn for a 2 person tent.
