I have booked a self catering ex BR Mk.2 carriage which has been converted to 3 bedrooms (one double, one twin and one with a single and a bunk) and a reservation on a second coach (slightly different configuration). They are located at Allerston (although the station is called Ebberston, which is around a mile away) on the old Forge valley line which ran from Scarborough to Pickering and closed in the early fifties. Each coach has its own communal kitchen, living area with TV & radio, and bathroom. Allerston is located just off the A170 approx 5 miles East of Pickering. The date has been chosen to coincide with the historic hill climb gathering at Saltburn-by-the-Sea which takes place on Sunday the 9th , which features classic cars and motorcycles climbing Saltburn bank. It�s approximately fifty miles North, near Redcar, the route takes in Bilsdale which must be one of the best motorcycling roads in Britain! The local pub, the Cayley Arms , has recently been refurbished and are expecting to be providing meals by Easter, so we should be OK for September. Local attractions include:- Thornton-le-Dale and the excellent motor museum � 2 miles Pickering and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway � 5 miles Flamingo Land Zoo and Theme Park 8 miles Scarborough 12 miles Filey 19 miles Whitby 25 miles Bridlington 30 miles York 35 miles
