A club camping weekend In Kirkby Stephen Cumbria organised by Nick, with the option for people to make their own B&B arrangements, then join the campers.

This is our third visit to the area but the first to the Takoda camp site for an event, organised on the May Bank Holiday weekend leaving the site on the Monday. It�s May so we should have good weather.

Kirkby Stephen is easily accessible by key road links, from the North or South, Junction 38 on the M6 and then the A685. East and West from the M1 (A1) A66 from Scotch Corner to Brough then A685.

Camping:

Camping is the only option, at �20 per person for the 3 day weekend. MEMBERS ONLY.

Facilities

This is a fairly newly opened campsite located to the North of Kirkby Stephen situated in open countryside but just ten minutes walk from the town. The two acre site has it's southern boundary on the banks of the River Eden and being a special site of scientific interest (SSSI) has lots of interesting wildlife and plants.

The amenity block has Ladies and Gents toilets with vanity units and free unlimited hot showers. There is a small separate room with two sinks for washing cooking utensils, a washing machine and drier.

At the front of the building is a large "snug" room offering tables and chairs with a nice outlook onto the site where guests can relax. This can also be a respite should the weather become inclement.

Recycling, managed by "Eden Recycling" has bins located near the main gate and plenty of shops locality if we have forgotten anything.

Ride out on Saturday (30th) and then a group evening meal in town?

Sunday has no plans yet, you choose

Gentle Ride home on Monday (1st).
