This event is on the weekend 1st & 2nd of April so we should have reasonable
weather and more luxury than the Longest Day. This Bunk House is much posher
than the Wigwams from the last event so no dog kennels this time. Still snorers
though.
Woodside Lodges is a country park in Hereford close to the border of Wales so
should have cider and good riding roads, but watch out for the speed cameras.
The country park is at the foot of the Malvern Hills in an area of outstanding
natural beauty, with easy access to the M5/M50. It is 2 miles from Ledbury, an
ancient town mentioned in the Doomsday Book famous for its cobbled streets,
Black and White buildings, it has a Saturday market. Ledbury is situated, equal
distances from Gloucester, Hereford, and Worcester (approx 15 miles) so well
located for a short ride out. 100 Miles gets you to Blandford Forum There are
about 30 cider makers in Hereford so we should be OK for a pint as well.
George plans to go down on Friday morning which should give him a chance to
check out the location of the local pubs which are a mile or so away but expect
most people will have to work and so join him later. On Saturday I am sure we
can find a destination to ride to. in the evening we can cook in the kitchen (or
go to a pub). On Sunday a quick breakfast and a gentle ride home stopping at
some museum for coffee and a break
You may be able to stay longer if you want to enjoy the April showers by
arranging it with the site.
A bunkhouse is a single unit with a wardrobe, dining area and cooking area. The
cooking area has a kettle, toaster, microwave, 2 ring table top cooker, fridge,
basic cooking equipment, utensils and crockery.
We have booked the whole place, all 5 rooms
- Electric is by coin meter
- Bring your own sleeping bag - or bedding is available at 5 per person
- Bring your own breakfast
Organised by George this is likely to be a quiet weekend with gentle riding and
gentle cider drinking since we will be in Hereford.
Cost is 30 per person for the weekend.
Spaces limited so booking is essential. Most rooms are twins but there is a
larger room, so be prepared to share with snorers. Email George if you want to
reserve a room for a couple or have any queries.
