We have held bunkhouse weekends in England, Wales and Scotland before, always quiet weekends with gentle rides out, good chat and group evening meal. This is slightly different because I have booked a 4 person, 2 twin lodge for a week.
This is our first visit to this part of Wales, it is a bunkhouse and camping week, but stay all or as little of it as you want. The event is mid May so you can go to other things on the Bank Holidays. We are booked in from a Friday night leaving the site on the following Friday morning. It’s May so we should have good weather, there may well be Forest Drives so we can have “soft” road fun, but I have yet to locate them.. We have exclusive use of the Lodge and its Showers/ cooking facilities. Campers will have the usual facilities in a field just nearby.
Location: Radnor Revivals, Brynwyddog, Llanbister, Llandrindod Wells, Powys, Mid Wales, LD1 6TL
The site is located on the border Midway down Wales, between Newtown and Llandrindod Wells, 10 miles away. 50miles takes you to a national, park, the seaside and quiet roads for gentle riding and 100 miles takes you to Cardiff & it's bight lights.

The cost is £65 per person for the week, (no discount for a shorter stay) for a lodge bed space including Bedding and Towels, MEMBERS ONLY. There is a temporary membership available if you want to “try before you buy” a membership.
Camping is an option at £5 per person for a night. Book in with us for administration, pay the camp site. Washroom facilities are available in the Main Block. MEMBERS ONLY. There is a temporary membership available if you want to “try before you buy” a membership.
The lodges are situated next to ancient woodland, sited for maximum privacy, set in new native woodland planted around 8 years ago. They are well equipped and we have booked a two bedroom one with a well appointed kitchen, with cooker, extractor, fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave and a full complement of crockery, utensils, etc. The pine table and chairs provide space to dine and the patio doors open onto the decked balcony with picnic bench where we can dine or enjoy the scenic views.
A barbecues are available if we want one. Groceries can be ordered for our arrival or Tesco home delivery is available in the area. Decisions closer to the time of the event.
For self catering you need to know the closest Tesco supermarket is in Llandrindod Wells, LD1 6BG, it has petrol, toilets, an ATM and food collection, they are reputed to deliver. It is best to shop on the way there though. There are smaller shops in the locality if we have forgotten vital items.
“Bunkhousers” can cook in the lodge kitchen, which is what we have done at previous events. If there are only a few campers there should be enough room for them to eat inside.
Arrive Friday (19th) after 3pm, arrange your own food
The site can organise routes and places to visit tailored to our requirements and are able to organise guided rides, but we will decide what to do closer to the time.
The local Trail Riders Federation have told me to buy the Landranger map and all Yellow marked roads have (some? all?) tarmac
Leave by 9.30 on Friday 26st May.
You will be able to stay longer if you want to enjoy the dark sky (the period we are there is the last quarter of the moon) by arranging it with the camp site.
