Longest Day Map

My first attempt at organising a weekend event. This event is planned for the weekend 18th & 19th June which is as close as I can get to the longest day which is Monday 21st.

Gorse Bank is a camping village in Dumfries, just over the boarder into Scotland so should have good riding roads, but be aware of the speed cameras.

Gorsebank Wigwam holidays, claim: comfortable camping on a relaxed campsite, in Dumfries and Galloway, near Dalbeattie. Wigwams are like timber tents or camping pods and all are heated. Closest towns are Dumfries, Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright are also close by. Solway coast villages of Rockcliffe and Kippford are within 3 miles, excellent sandy beach at Sandy Hills. Great golf course and fishing on the doorstep, shops at Colvend.

The site has BBQ's so we should be able to do some sort of cook out on the Saturday night. I suspect we will be able to buy beer and rely on ourselves to provide entertainment to make for a friendly, sociable weekend. The timber tents sleep 2/3 and the wigwams up to 5. The tents are basic and you will need to provide your own mat and sleeping bag. There is no space for campers, they say the land is not suitable.

I am going up on Thursday but expect most people will come on the Friday, and stay until Sunday mid-morning but you can stop longer if you want to enjoy the real longest day.

The wigwams are heated, have a fridge, kettle and microwave. Timber tents are heated. On site there is a kitchen, showers and a drying room. There is a shop that sells basic camping things. I have sorted out group discount to a nearby aviation museums if enough people are interested. Altogether a great weekend. Please PM me from the Forum for my address. There's only room for 1 other in my timber tent so you need to book early but I will be able to get some wigwams.

Organised by George this is likely to be a quiet weekend with good Scottish roads and lots of light.

Cost is £30 per person for the weekend. Spaces will be limited so pre-booking is essential. The wigwams sleep up to 5, so be prepared to share with some snoring, farters. I will try to organise 3 people per wigwam but how many sleep in each, will depend on actual numbers booking and the number of wigwams/tents I can get.
