BM Riders Club News

The 2009 Elections are now over

The elections are now over and the results can be found within the Members website.

We urgently need a Vice-Chairman and a National Events Co-ordinator.

January 2009

Andy Raggett has now been appointed as your new Membership Secretary until the post becomes due for election in October 2009.

This is purely because a change of circumstance has forced Mike to retire as he no longer has the necessary time to available to commit to the post. Mike has been here since before the Club was launched, was involved in all of the original debate and discussion that was involved to get the Club up and running and has worked tirelessly on your behalf. He knew the change of circumstance was on the horizon and made the decision to retire but has kept things running until a volunteer was found in Andy and will, no doubt, assist Andy for some time to come while he gets himself sorted....

Mike deserves a massive thankyou for the work he has put in over the years and we're all very sad to see him leaving the organising team but I'm sure he'll still be around as and when time permits... Many thanks, Mike.

The 2008 elections are now over

The elections are now over and voting results can be found within the Members website.

September 2008

Steve Foreman, your National Events co-ordinator has resigned with immediate effect. Steve has been getting more and more disillusioned with the lack of volunteers to help run and organise events and has now decided to stand down mid-way through his term of office with a view to standing for a similar post elsewhere.

"Further to our recent telecons etc, I confirm I am Stepping down with immediate effect. I think I have done enough for the last 2 years to not feel too much remorse, although I genuinely hope the club goes from strength to strength. I just feel I am running out of steam. Ironic that 2 events have now been arranged by others, isn't it? A case of too little too late tho'.

Embarrasingly, Martin Ellis Has announced in the Journal that I will be standing for his position within the Midland section of the BMW club, Or the Dark side, if you will. This statement was a little premature, as, after being approached a couple of months ago and saying I would think about it, it was only at a meeting today that I decided I would stand. Incidental things like enthusiastic support, funds, an almost full Calendar for the next 18 Months etc. were the swaying things. I emphasize that I was only approached after mentioning that I was thinking of standing down.

I wish you all continued success with the BM Riders, and will keep my membership up if you'll have me.

Best Regards, :smt039 :smt039 "

I'm sure we would all like to wish Steve the best with his new venture and thank him for the superb events that he has organised for us - they have been appreciated almost as much as Lindsey's catering....... I'm not sure who'll be missed the most...

This leaves the Club with a very real problem in that it is already September and we have not one single event organised for next year. We need volunteers both to arrange local events in their area and for the post of National Events Co-ordinator - with the best will in the world, I cannot do that in addition to the jobs I'm currently doing (Chairman, Secretary and webmaster) we need YOU to volunteer to undertake some of the work for the rest.......
