Hotel Weekend
The club invite you to join us on a weekend of good company and countryside in the fabulous scenery of Dentdale and the neighbouring Lake District. Arriving Friday 25th Depart Sunday 27th AT:
The Sportsmans Inn, Cowgill, Dent, Cumbria. LA10 5RG A new event for 2012 we have secured the entire accommodation at a 17th century coaching inn at special BM rider’s club rates. I can possibly arrange camping for club members at a nearby site. Please ask if you would like me to forward details of this option. This charming 17th century country Inn is situated at the head of beautiful Dentdale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, within easy reach of the Lake District.Owned and run by Sandra Martin since 1988 A traditional country Inn where the art of conversation is still practised. The pub is ideally placed to allow you to explore the beautiful surroundings on your bike and breakfast is included in the price. Real ales from local brewers are always available and the food is all locally sourced. The owner will even proudly show you the farm where the meat that is served here is reared. Selling out in a matter of days, I have now arranged with the campsite down the lane for 10 Pitches at Ewegales Farm, Dent. As a courtesy to the site owner I have agreed that bookings will be for the 2 nights as he will reserve a nice location for us. It’s cheap as chips at £10.00 per person for the weekend and is in a truly beautiful location. It’s only 1 mile from the pub that the rest of us are staying in and is a short stumble down a quiet country lane. The field is flat and right by the side of the beck. The Owner Johnny is a sweet man and will let you have a fire or a BBQ by the side of the beck. This is a basic site with 1 shower and 1 toilet, but hey, isn’t that what camping is supposed to be like? There are many areas of natural beauty around the venue and some of the country’s nicest biking roads are to be found very close by. You won’t be far from places like Ingleton, famous for its caves and Ingelborough “hill” as well as Kirkby Lonsdale where the weekend spectacle of hundreds of bikes descending on Devils Bridge is well worth experiencing. There is a Booths high class supermarket also at nearby Kirkby for all the essentials and this provides the option of cheap lunch and dinner should you be so inclined. The English Lakes are only an hour away and we will be happy to lead a tour out to Windermere and Ullswater on the Saturday or Sunday if people want to have a nice relaxing ride out. There will be no formal plan for the weekend and no pre-organised activities. Just come and enjoy yourself. If you want to ride your bike with others, great, if you want to do your own thing then that’s great too. Dent is Located off Junction 36 or 37 of the M6 and is about 40 minute’s gentle drive from each. For people coming from the east, you may want to choose to ride the A684 from the A1 which will add greatly to your enjoyment of the weekend. This route takes you past Bedale, Leyburn, Hawes and more and is a road not to be missed. The A65 from Skipton is also a nice route although often busy. All rooms are twin or double. If you are making a single booking, you must be prepared to share your room with another single booking. Places are limited to 10 people in 5 rooms Price for the weekend is only £70.00 per person. This includes bedding and your breakfast so please get your reservation in early to avoid disappointment. See you there BM RIDERS EVENTS TEAM.
