By popular demand this venue is back again this summer. This time the "Barn" is reserved for the weekend 4th 5th & 6th June. Whirlow is a working farm and trips round the farm will be arranged for anyone who is interested. Its on the edge of the Peak District and there will be a really good, steady ride out on the Saturday. BBQ's , a barrel of beer and our sweet selves to provide entertainment will make for a friendly, sociable weekend. Last year we had a bit of a sing along to Eric on the guitar. The Barn sleeps 14 in 6 twin rooms and two singles. The rooms are clean and bedding is provided but it is not hotel standard. There's plenty of room for campers, again its basic but ok.

Last year most (in fact everyone last year) come on the Friday, mid-afternoon and left on Sunday mid-morning but you can stop Sunday night if you want. There's a log burner in the lounge, a kitchen and a gazebo with BBQ going most of the time. The farm shop sells most things you might need and I will get a stock of sausages , burgers etc in as well. There's a Chinese take away ,a Tandoori and a pub half a mile away so there's little chance of starving. I might try to sort out a trip to one or other of the nearby industrial museums if anyone is interested. Altogether a great weekend. Please PM me from the Forum for my address. There's only room for 14 (plus campers) so you need to book early.

Just so that no one is confused this is at Whirlow Hall farm near Sheffield. Its a cottage/barn conversion on the edge of the farm down a lane accessed from Ringinglow Road and nearly impossible to find without detailed instructions which will follow later when I find out how to put maps on here!. We have the place for Friday, Saturday and Sunday 4th, 5th and 6th June 2010. We need to vacate early Monday morning although I expect most will go home Sunday evening. Bedding is provided and there is a cooker etc. Some rudimentary catering will be laid on; sausage butties and the like although people are welcome to bring their own and use the cooker. We will probably have a BBQ going most evenings and various pub excursions as well.

Please note: This is NOT Whirlow Hall Farm itself but a barn conversion some distance away. Directions are: The barn is off Ringinglow Road at Sheffield. The post code is S11 7TA. To find it, coming up hill it is on the left about a 3rd of a mile past the Hammer & Pincers pub, through some gateposts named Thryft House and down a lane signposted 'The barn Residential Unit' (or some similar pompous nonsense). The barn is on the right about 200 yards down. See the map above or download the GPS directions.

Organised by John (Spot) this is likely to be a great weekend if you can stand the pace….

Cost for a is £25 per person for the weekend. Beds are strictly limited to 14 so pre-booking for a bed is essential.

Cost for camping is £5 per person for the weekend. Camping is limited to 'reasonable' numbers so pre-booking probably isn't essential but would be helpful.
