19th October 2009
Event now over........
EVENT IS NOW FULL We
now have a few more beds available - they may fill quickly.
Due to an unusually high number of couples
booking we have lost a couple of expected beds as we've utilised 4 bed rooms for
couples. There may possibly be more beds if we can arrange it - if you'd still
like to go then complete a booking form but DO NOT send payment and I'll add you
to the reserve list.
Update: 1st September
We now have a few more beds available - reservations are 'first come, first
served' so get your bookings in now........
2009 sees the return of the ever popular Killala Cottages
weekend at The Old Deanery in Co. Mayo, Ireland. Based in fully equipped
cottages on the hill overlooking Broad Bay and consists of three nights starting
on the Friday and finishing on the Monday morning and all for only £35 per head.
This Rally makes a great break in relaxing surroundings with
some great company amidst the rural splendour and relaxed atmosphere that is
Southern Ireland. There is great scenery, great riding roads and a few great
Irish pubs in the village.....
We tend to pre-arrange very little for this
event and most folk seem happy to just 'go with the flow' Most will take
ride-outs at some point, both to see the scenery, ride the roads, visit some
attraction or just find a local bar for soup and a roll.....
Saturday evening will
we have a meal arranged for those that wish it at The Village Inn' where we'll
have our own room. The meal is arranged for 7.30pm. Costs of the meal are not included inn the rally price and
the main meal will be a choice of Beef, Chicken, Fish or a vegetarian option at
around 10 Euros and starters and desserts at around 4 Euros. The meal is
optional but usually makes a good get together - I'll need confirmed numbers by
the Friday at the latest.
The cottages are fully equipped and all you
need to bring are your own towels. Each house tends to do it's own catering with
folk getting together to cook and/or buy provisions so you won't particularly
need to cater for yourself just be willing to help out with whatever needs
doing..... All totally relaxed.
Travel - most folk tend to cross the Irish Sea
from Holyhead to Dunlaoghaire and the last time we went, the majority booked
into the Travel Lodge at Holyhead the night before for the early sailing of the
HSS at 9.10am which made for an easy start and a leisurely day to cover the 160
miles to Killala along with various lunch and tea stops. Ferry times have
changed slightly since then and the early HSS now runs at 10.25am which means
not quite such an early start but also not quite such a leisurely ride. Current
ferry prices on the HSS for a bike and rider are £55 each way with an additional
£20 each way for a foot passenger - we are likely to have a discount code in due
course that you will be able to use for a Stena ferry booking and I think it
will save you 15%.
Cost is £35 per
person. We have four cottages available, each with one double room,
one twin room and one room with either three or four beds. - single rooms are not available so if you are
coming alone you will be roomed with another person.
This means that there are only 28 places available on a 'First come, First
Served' basis so early booking and payment is highly recommended. IF
we become fully booked over the next couple of months it is possible that we may
be able to book another one or two cottages but after that there is no
guarantee..... So Book Now........ if you'd like
to attend this rally you need to get those bookings in now......
